“About May” has a wren very busy building a nest in a palm tree. It is the male, of course. He will build a selection of nests in the hope that his hen will be happy to choose one of them. The importance of ensuring the future by working hard to secure the next generation. There is a wren and a red shank. A peewit constantly calls to its four chicks barely a day old and has them swim to another patch of ground.
If ever there was a ceilidh this was it! The Celtic mix of Brittany and Islay hit a jack pot of sheer enjoyment and highly spirituous behaviour. In all of eighty years I have not enjoyed a party so much.Members of Diaouled ar Menez band from Bretagne came with a sizable host of friends to stay a while in Islay.Committee members of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution organised this ceilidh in aid of our lifeboat. More than 1 hour long.
£1 from the sale of this DVD goes to the RNLI.

Definitely Deer of Islay £5.99
The red deer of Islay through the seasons, with calves, cast antlers and the noisy rut. Distinguishes the red deer from the fallow deer of the east coast of Islay and our wide spread roe deer.
A gem of a DVD - an almost endless collection of the warmth of Islay. Each scene a gem in itself. The island with eight distilleries and palm trees. Winter warmed by the gulf stream. Over 40 minutes of everything Islay
Social occasions attended by a considerable number of Ileachs and incomers and visitors; annual events and occasions that celebrate special events. The Agricultural Show, the Visual Arts Exhibition and samples from a Burn’s Supper. The opening of the new centre at Finlaggan and the Clarsach Players. Inevitably some of Islay’s wild life too accompanied by song from local singers.

Islay's High Flying Years £10.99
Excerpts from a great many films. Ruby Grierson, who knew the author’s grandmother, was drowned at sea when accompanying children to America and the ship was torpedoed. She here documents (1930s) the benefits that oil was bringing to humanity.
Early filming by Ileachs records the ‘plane landing in the 1950s. Islay’s war time contribution to the Atlantic’s defence by seaplanes is well represented. The Air Ambulance Service film provides humour and humanity. The Poet on a Plane, Liz Niven drives the airport fire engine. Glen Campbell opens the new terminal building. And there’s always the Islay Airport Open Day with flights over Islay and a great gathering of all shapes of aircraft — there’s something from “The Maggie” too. All is punctuated with snippets of wild life of Islay.
£2 from the price of this DVD will be donated to the Museum of Islay Life.
For the aspiring or even accomplished ornithologist this DVD just has to have many happenings that will astound you. They all impressed me greatly for reasons of their unlikely happening or because I just happened to be there at the time. It takes one far beyond mere identification into the realm of behaviour and reasoned responses. Try it
Extensive cover of the red deer throughout the year. Rabbits romp. A red breasted merganser has a large problem. Cross the island from Claggain to Claddach with terns, otters and a close view of roe deer with a red shank thrown in for good measure.
A video of five otter mothers sometimes with their cubs and a dog otter drying its coat atop a seaweed covered rock. Eleven years with several generations of a family of otters occupying the same area yet moving the maternal holt to a new site three times

Spring recce of the Rhinns of Islay £5.99
The perfect present for the person who might come to Islay to see the birds - especially the geese that are here between October and March. Several roe deer pairs are also evident and there is a visit to our impressive wave generator that provides electricity to the grid.
A ceilidh is a get-together and preferably impromptu; something to go with the mood. The best I knew was when it developed from someone commenting on the young girl’s engagement ring. A song went round the pub, someone left and then returned with a guitar and we sang on for an age in to the night.
This DVD has some of the best parties that I have attended. See them for yourself.
